Sun Strap is a smartwatch band functions as an additional device apart from the smartwatch and employs a sensor to gather information about sunlight exposure throughout the day. Using this data, an application delivers suggestions to help people get enough sunlight for their daily needs.

01 Problem(focus area)
Insufficient exposure to sunlight is one of the main reasons for vitamin D deficiency, a widespread problem globally. Research suggests that around 42% of American adults have inadequate levels of this vital nutrient, which can lead to various health issues such as weak bones, muscle weakness, depression, and a weakened immune system.

To maintain a healthy level of vitamin D, spending 15 to 30 minutes in the sun during midday is sufficient. It is crucial to remind people of the necessity of sun exposure to help them maintain good health. However, prolonged exposure to the sun's ultraviolet rays without protection can cause damage to the skin and eyes. The appropriate duration of sun exposure varies based on factors like age, skin tone, skin sensitivity, season, and weather.

02 Issue
What are some simple ways to measure sunlight and remind individuals to get enough sun exposure?
- It is easy to forget to get sun exposure during busy schedules. Therefore, it is important to incorporate reminders and strategies for obtaining sufficient sunlight exposure into daily routines.
- People are unaware of how long they should spend under the sun, and excessive exposure can be harmful. It is crucial to provide personalized information based on skin conditions and UV levels.

03 Solution
Throughout the day, a sensor on a strap collects data on sunlight exposure without requiring additional devices besides a smartwatch. The collected data is then transmitted via Bluetooth to the smartwatch. Using this information, an app provides users with recommendations on the ideal duration of sun exposure.
